To reduce the pre-drying time by 50 with dehumidifying dryer

It is impossible to further shorten the molding cycle which has reached its limit in today's High-Mix Low-Volume Manufacturing. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the setup time for mold changes that we perform every day.

There are various processes involved in switching to the next production

  • Mold replacement
  • Chuck plate replacement
  • Material replacement in the injection cylinder dryer, etc.

The most time-consuming of these processes is the resin pre-drying time.

Problems

Do you have any following problems?

  • When using a hot air dryer, it takes almost 4 hours for pre-drying, especially for nylon-based materials.
  • There is no space for a spare dryer and it is costly.
  • Unable to mold even though the molds and chuck plates have been replaced.

Solution

  • Change from hot air dryer to dehumidifying dryer.

Result

  • Shorten the drying time from taking 4 hours to 2 hours.
    (It took 4 hours to dry the standard tangerine moisture content of 2800 ppm of 66PA material to the moldable moisture content of 1000 ppm, but now it can be dried in 2 hours.)
  • The defect rate was reduced because stable drying was possible without being affected by the season or weather.
  • The production efficiency increased by the shortened 2 hours.
